Supporting Our Communities During Crises

Posted 12/05/2017 by Kimberlee Sinclair Executive Director, H.B. Fuller Company Foundation
2017 has seen many disasters impact communities around the world, including several where H.B. Fuller employees live and work. In keeping with our commitment to support our employees and neighbors, the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation has contributed disaster relief funding to help put these communities on the road to recovery. We believe in building better communities, and we do what we can to help make it happen.

Severe wildfires tore through central Portugal this summer, taking more than 60 lives and injuring hundreds more. H.B. Fuller employees immediately expressed a desire to give back to their neighbors in need, and the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation worked with the Portuguese Red Cross to match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar.

In August, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas and caused catastrophic flooding and damage to local infrastructure, homes, and other buildings, including H.B. Fuller facilities in Houston and Eagle Lake. In response, the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross and matched all employee donations dollar-for-dollar. When a devastating earthquake struck central Mexico in September, the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation opened a fund with our partner Global Giving to match all employee donations dollar-for-dollar.

As a strong corporate citizen, we believe that we have a responsibility to help our communities in time of need, and we are proud to have come together with our employees to respond to disasters around the world this year. Disaster relief is just one of the ways that H.B. Fuller supports our communities around the world.
